Unlike mini-choppers or processors, this type of blending favours foods with a higher water content and so is ideal for fixing soups, sauces, milkshakes and smoothies and tackling softer foods like fruits and vegetables.

The Breville Pro-Kitchen Hand Blender is the perfect blender set, and versatility is its strongest asset. Featuring 12 speeds plus turbo, the VHB089 will adapt to anything you throw at it. Powered by an impressive 800w motor and with a professional-standard 4 tip stainless steel blade, this Hand Blender has a detachable leg, also known as the head, which is dishwasher-safe and made from stainless steel. This is less corrosive and more resistant to rusting than other materials and boasts antibacterial properties that keep it hygienic.

The stainless steel, four-tip blade is positioned inside the head for safety, and by keeping it neatly out of the way this also acts as an anti-splash guard to help minimise unwanted mess.

The main body of the blender has a stylish black and chrome finish and contains the powerful 800 watt (W) motor. The 12 speed settings give ultimate control and this s further helped by the handle's ergonomic design delivering a solid and comfortable grip.

Safety concerns aren't overlooked or compromised thanks to the recessed buttons which prevent the motor from starting if it's accidentally knocked over or dropped which are also soft-touch for prolonged use. In addition, the soft-touch easy-grip front and back panels ensure that wet hands don't slip when operating the hand blender.

The set is completed with an alternative chopper attachment and includes an 800 millilitre (ml) beaker. The chopper bowl is 1.25 litres in size and features stainless steel blades. Further versatility is provided by the stainless steel twin beaters attachment. All the attachments fully dissemble for easy and quick cleaning and are dishwasher-safe to save on washing up (excluding the chopper's lid).

Use the chopper bowl to tackle herbs and vegetables, create chunky dips and sauces such as salsa and pesto, make breadcrumbs or crush ice.
